Qualifications:

 

Fluent in both oral and written English and Spanish

College hours for Title I campus 48 required or a score of 464 on the Parapro Test

College hours, high school diploma or  GED for Non-Title I Campus

Ability to work with students and teachers

Ability to manage a flexible schedule

School office experience or volunteer experience preferred

Strong organizational skills

Ability to work within deadlines

Paraprofessional aide certificate required once employed

 

Primary Purpose:  

 

Work with Bilingual teacher(s) to instruct bilingual students and to implement federal, state and local policies in regards to bilingual students.    

  

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:      

  1. Assist bilingual teachers in the classroom as needed.
  2. Provide tutorial assistance to bilingual students as needed.
  3. Administer oral and written tests to English learners as needed, including serving on a rotational basis at the EL (English Learner) Testing Center.
  4. Check and update bilingual student cumulative folders for accurate documentation.
  5. Maintain the confidentiality of students and administration.
  6. Assist bilingual teachers to complete and organize the legal/mandated documentation for student placement.
  7. Input English learner PEIMS data upon principal and/or bilingual teacher request.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

 

Maintain emotional control under stress. Moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
