You just might be the person we are looking for if you have:

 

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

Knowledge of subjects assigned

ESL certification required for, ELA, Reading (or ability to obtain within one year)

General knowledge of design and delivery issues related to alignment for best results in student achievement

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior in an online or face-to-face setting

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Physically able to monitor student discipline and progress and meet other student needs as required

Physically able to move about the room to perform formative assessments and adequately facilitate small and large group instruction

Strong knowledge of technology, Canvas, and remote/blended instruction

Online Instruction Certification through an accredited program (ability to obtain in 1st year)

Orienting your Online Learners Certificate (ability to obtain in 1st year)

Creating Presence in your Online Course Certificate (ability to obtain in 1st year)

Katy ISD MRA Certification Course (ability to obtain in 1st year)

 

 

The mission of this role:

 

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth in an online or blended learning environment. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

 

 

What success looks like for this role:

    • Modify lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
    • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
    • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect accommodation for individual needs of students assigned.
    • Work cooperatively with special education staff to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
    • Cooperate with other members of staff for planning and implementing instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
    • Assist students in analyzing and improving study methods and habits.
    • Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing and use results to plan instructional activities.
    • Present positive role model for students.
    • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
    • Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations and IEPs.
    • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
    • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
    • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly, using email, discussion boards, chat and Canvas inbox.
    • Participate in campus and district staff development programs.
    • Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
    • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
    • Compile and maintain all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required.
    • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as required.
    • Articulate the district’s mission and goals in areas of assigned responsibilities to the community and solicit its support in realizing the mission.
    • Demonstrate awareness of district/community needs and initiate activities to meet identified needs.
    • Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques to enhance community and parent Involvement in the local school system.
    • Develop essential components of face-to-face interventions which will be developed and delivered according to data driven decision making philosophies.
    • Utilize asynchronous and synchronous tools to augment course content.

Standing for long periods of time. Use of a computer for extended periods of time. Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing, i.e., relocating stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment. The level of mobility required depends upon the grade level of teaching assignment(s) and requirements thereof. Must maintain emotional control under stress.
