Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s Degree

Valid Texas teaching certificate

Minimum of three years classroom experience

Demonstrated ability as an instructional designer and leader with both students and adults

Proven leadership skills

Demonstrated capacity to be self-directed, passionate, motivated and collaborative with all staff members on multiple campuses

Possess ability to be organized and utilize time management skills  in dealing with a variety of workloads on multiple campuses

 

Primary Purpose:

 

The job of Classroom Technology Designer was established for improving student engagement and performance by interfacing with teachers to facilitate the integration of technology into teaching and learning by embedding technology into lessons for students and teachers that are accessible for anytime, anywhere learning.

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  1. Collaborates and assists teachers for the purpose of the design and preparation of District developed tools and resources to enhance the implementation of technology into the learning environment that meet District objectives.
  2. Design that embedded instructional technology resources into the core content for both student and teacher use.
  3. Experience in developing online courses for student and teachers that follow best practices produced by a variety resources such as: Katy ISD, iNACOL, and Quality Matters.
  4. Integrate existing and emerging instructional technology tools into core content that support the Katy ISD Cornerstones.
  5. Model effective use of technology integration strategies into curriculum and instructional practices across content areas.
  6. Provide professional development and model lessons that support a connected classroom with anywhere, anytime access for learning.
  7. Maintain the appropriate professional and student instructional training resources for the purpose of documentation that can be used for the knowledge base and professional development.
  8. Understands technology software and hardware and foresees issues and provides solutions to ensure best practices for staff and students.
  9. Participates actively in meetings, workshops for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.

Communication:

    1. Informs manager of activities and projects on each campus.
    2. Ensure all levels of communication and approval are met before delivering technology resources to campus students and staff.
    3. Collaborate with classroom teachers, Technology Department, Teaching & Learning Department to create the best methods for delivering technology integrated lessons to teachers and students.
    4. Serve as an ambassador for innovative technologies and best teaching practices with students, teachers, parents, and community.
    5. Assist with the facilitation of school activities that promote the campus technology to students, parents and community.
    6. Work collaboratively with other departments and model the District’s approved instructional technology resources.
    7. Exhibit professional attitude, attire, and communication at all times.

Other Duties:

 

  1. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents as required.
  2. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  3. Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.
  4. Perform other such duties as required and/or assigned by manager or Director of Instructional Technology.

Equipment Used:

 

Personal computer, printer, tablets, variety of technology peripherals, copier.

Working Conditions:

 

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district-wide travel. Repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of computer. Work with frequent interruptions. Physically able to handle small equipment and boxes.
